Radcliff’s diverse and thriving economy make it a lucrative choice for business owners. It is one of Kentucky’s fastest-growing communities, owing much of its growth and prosperity to Fort Knox, which it borders to the south.
Radcliff and Fort Knox share a uniquely close relationship that dates back to the establishment of both communities in 1919. During World War II, Radcliff expanded exponentially to accommodate the families of service members training at the U.S. Military post. Radcliff’s population fluctuated greatly over the years, depending on the deployments of the units stationed at Fort Knox, but the BRAC reorganization of 2005 and the quartering of the U.S. Army’s Human Resources Command to the post has created a larger and more stable population.
The Radcliff/Fort Knox Convention and Tourism Commission works to attract thousands of visitors to the area each year by promoting northern Hardin County to the traveling public. In 2017 alone, tourism in Hardin County boosted the local economy by nearly $246 million with much of that money having been spent in Radcliff. Hardin County, part of Kentucky’s Bourbon, Horses and History region, ranked as the sixth highest income-producing county in the state in 2017.
