Mayor J.J. Duvall was joined by Fire Chief Tim Marsh and members of City Council as they recognized one of Radcliff’s heroes. ![]()
Radcliff Fire Lt. Sean O’Donley was awarded a Medal of Honor for his efforts in rescuing a resident from a recent house fire on Centennial Avenue.![]()
After getting off duty at the fire station, Lt. O’Donley heard the call out for a house fire with possible person trapped inside. As he was driving near the area, Lt. O’Donley responded without hesitation. ![]()
On the scene, Lt. O’Donley confirmed a man was trapped in the home and, without any gear, went in to rescue him. Thanks to Lt. O’Donley’s efforts, the man received immediate medical attention and was taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, Chief Marsh said the resident died two weeks later at the hospital, but that was two weeks longer his family got to spend with him.![]()
Lt. O’Donley also suffered carbon monoxide poisoning in the rescue effort and was able to recover on his two days off. He returned to work for his next shift. ![]()
For his bravery, the Mayor, Chief, and City Council were proud to award the Medal of Honor to Lt. Sean O’Donley! We are proud that our men and women in uniform are willing to serve this city bravely. Please join us in thanking Lt. O’Donley and our firefighters for their service.![]()
