This 103-acre, heavily-wooded natural area is located on steep terrain, providing opportunities for nature study, hiking, picnicking, and historic interpretation. It features a handicap-accessible trail that winds through a mature hardwood forest and past a cascading waterfall. Other hiking trails wind through the dense forest around a lake. There’s also a picnic area along with many trees that are marked for identification along the trails. Adjacent to the Nature Preserve is a 73-acre tract called the Saunders Springs Annex, which the City leases from Fort Knox. There is no charge to use the Preserve or the Annex area.
